Another night at Café de la Danse

We spent a happy day wandering around Ile Saint-Louis and even snuck a visit to the apartment...peeked in, said, "Bonjour," to the builders and, "Nous pouvons avoir un petit regard?"  They're always really welcoming and don't mind us sneaking a look at what's going on.  They even tell us what should be finished this week and what will be started next week...in French, so we're not always sure, but it's always a surprise on Friday when we meet with the architects.

Visted an exposition "Villes du Monde" at the Galerie des Bibliothèques.  This is an exhibition of black and white photographs of cities of the world, taken at a time when those cities verged on the brink of modernisation.  The accompanying text referenced architects at the time and their plans for the cities.  There was a fabulous map of Melbourne and suburbs from 1877, drawn by E. Whitehead & Co., and a panoramic photo of Melbourne taken from the Scot's Church spire in Collins Street in 1875 by Archibald & William Paterson.  Yay, Melbourne...up there in Villes du Monde!

Met with our friends André and Marie, who reside in the apartment building where we're staying, for an aperitif.  They were the first to see our special Ile Saint-Louis apartment...met with the estate agent and sent us photos, which initiated the whole project.  We will meet them again on Thursday afternoon so they can come over and have a look at the work that's going on with the apartment.

Back to Café de la Danse in the evening, this time to see a French band Cascadeur.  They look kind of scary because the band is clad in motorcycle suits and masks - always - but the singer has a beautiful, ethereal voice and it was fabulous...from pop to electronic, from guitar heavy to keyboard ballad.

Headed home, stopping at the Bastille for a citron gelati pour moi and a creme beignet pour Monsieur...now, this feels like a holiday...

Hi Sally. Sounds like you are having a lovely time over there. Had a read through all your posts since you arrived. Makes me want to holiday there one day. Was watching a show on Foxtel about French gardens the other night and thinking of your travels. Think it's a show you would have loved.
