Sunday night with U2

Last night we saw U2 perform at the former Bercy concert venue (now called Accor Hotels Arena).  We've previously been to the Bercy to see Britney Spears, Guns N Roses and George Michael.  Eclectic music taste?  Not really, it's just who's playing in September!  Size-wise the venue is similar to Rod Laver Arena, but holds perhaps 50% more people.

The floor was jam packed for standing room and I was happy we had a seat...even though the audience stood for most of the night!  Brent was impressed by the set list (especially the songs from Achtung Baby) and the highlight for me was Elevation - voiced, I think, by everyone in the arena!  There was a stream of spectacular visuals projected on the giant screens, and the band moved within and below the screens as they switched between the two stages.  Even for someone like me, who is not a true U2 fan, the concert was pretty fab.  Sound was perfect, lighting was creative, the crowd was out for a good time...and the band were super entertaining.  (Sure there were a few moments here and there where Bono shared his perspective on the world...but if you know Bono, then you'd know there's no escaping that!)

So...it was a very late Sunday night, which led to a quiet Monday, ending with an indulgent Paris-Brest gateau from La Grande Épicerie.
