Vincent & Theo

The day Tony arrived I caught the RER (country metro) to Auvers-sur-Oise, where Vincent Van Gogh spent the last two months of his life. Tiny country town with pretty, hilly streets. Watched a totally engrossing audio visual presentation that used excerpts of Vincent's letters to his brother, Theo and pictures of his work to tell his story. I loved that Vincent would send Theo paintings in exchange for cash and the way that he described his days and paintings by colour, not content.

The photo is the church that Vincent painted in L'Eglise d'Auvers - he described it as the blue of the stained glass and the violet of the roof (colours my camera cannot capture).

It's quite challenging catching the RER, but it's worth it just to be able to ask for a ticket on the errrh-eh-errrh!
