Nancy ... allo, allo

We had the day in Nancy before heading back to Paris mid afternoon. A beautiful, clear morning and without the cold wind of Strasbourg.

Headed from the train station to Place Stanislas for breakfast. The Place is named after the Duke of Lorraine who commissioned the square in the 18th century, adorned with statues and gilded wrought iron gateways. Amazing, just a little over the top, and obviously the pride of Nancy.

There was a literary fair and exhibition in progress celebrating contemporary French authors in the Place de la Carriere adjoining Place Stanislas. It was a great wander and many of the author and graphic novel writers/illustrators were signing books and chatting to readers. Even though it was frustrating for us English speakers, we still enjoyed browsing the books, listening to the conversations and watching the graphic illustrators create something new in each book they signed.

Spent most of the day in Parc de la Pepiniere which was lush, groomed and ornate - like most Paris parks - and wandering a circuit of the city.

Back to the station for the 3.15 train to Paris - us and huge numbers of Scottish football fans who had been in town for a Nancy-Lorraine v Motherwell game. Not a quiet train ride ... I think it took 15 minutes and constant clinking of stubbies for the first "Noo, give us a song - eeeeh, oooooh"!

Great 'photos of the square, it is fun wandering around with you - your camera and your commentary. L&G
