Gare Montparnasse et Tour Eiffel

Breakfast at Le Preau and then we headed off via metro to Gare Montparnasse to see the Jardin Atlantique. The garden is built on the top of the train station and has a children's playground, tennis courts, outdoor table tennis tables and lots of space and seating for those in the surrounding office buildings to enjoy their lunch outdoors. The garden is called Jardin Atlantique because all trains leaving (or arriving at) Gare Montparnasse are heading in the direction of (or coming from) the Atlantic ocean.
Caught the metro to Bir Hakeim station, which is close to the Eiffel tower. Pont Bir Hakeim featured in the movie Inception and is one of the few bridges that the metro crosses above ground. Walked along the Promenade d'Australie and then to the Eiffel tower. It was pretty quiet at the tower today, maybe because today was grey, cool and windy, but even on a gloomy day it's a magnificent sight.
Walked back along Avenue de la Bourdonnais - took a photo for mum and dad - and then made a dash for the metro as it started to rain. You know, it wouldn't have been a trip to Paris without a visit to the Eiffel tower!
