Of puces and brocante

The weather is glorious this weekend and we have been out to the Puces (flea market) de la Porte de Clignancourt in the 18th arrondissement and to a local brocante (second-hand) market in the 4th. The Puces is huge, spread over several blocks of allees and passages, where you can find anything from buttons to door handles, crockery to vintage posters, lace to...you guessed it...vinyl records! My favourite sight from every visit here is the stallholders having lunch - le vin, le salade, le cafe and les cigarettes - seated on the antique chairs around vintage tables that
are otherwise for sale - but I dare you to interrupt their dejeuner!

The brocante market was just as much fun. There's a joyous community mood as the Parisiens make the most of their weekend - whether it be browsing their local market, joking with the stallholders, their children selecting books or toys laid out at the stalls; or lunch by the Seine accompanied by beaucoup de kisses and cuddles. Happy autumn days!

Hi Sally & Brent, What a great picture we have of your day at la puce and la brocante - perhaps the stallholders enjoy their day as much as their customers - especially on such a beautiful day. L&G
