Les chiens a la marche aux puces
First metro trip today, out to Porte de Clignancourt to the Marche aux Puces. Porte de Clignancourt is the end of line 4 and just on the peripherique of Paris. Once you exit the metro you keep eyes straight ahead as you walk briskly through the "market outside the market" - street vendors with arms full of cigarettes, Chanel No. 5 (in label only!), designer (not really) handbags, sunglasses and headphones. Once you reach the actual marche aux puces you find allees of tiny stalls full of brocante and antiquities. Every year we enjoy this visit for the dogs of the market and to see the market people pulling together their secondhand furniture and laying out a grand lunch or playing cards over a verre du vin - oh, and some record stalls! Toujours un jour trés heureux.
