Un trésor au marché aux puces

We spent a fabulous few hours wandering the flea market at Porte de Vanves today, and then the rest of the day walking the Marais...parfait!  When I think of Paris over the next year, it will be pictures of today that come to mind - these streets, these buildings, the street signs - the Saint Paul metro, picking up something for dinner at the traiteur "Au Sanglier", pushing open the huge front door to our apartment block.

At the flea market, amongst the antique furniture, the ancient picture frames and old postcards, the china bits and pieces, silver crockery and lace, we found a very special treasure...this one is for L&G and the Sinclairs.

Hi Sally & Brent, Vraiment une pierre precieuse. Love the typical tolerant expression, a little like "the coffee shop stop" of Pearl. Am still smiling, love the 'photos. L&G

Our worlds just collided - we are at White Cliffs, opal mining territory in northern NSW - just saw the same expression and scruffyness on one of the locals as seen on the dog in your photo. He lives in a dug-out and just showed us a documentary by a French film crew who visited and filmed his underground house and mine. So we are both listening to French conversation, but we are completely covered with red dirt while doing so! Nice place to visit, but unlike Paris, you would not want to live here! Fi
