Thank you everyone for your birthday wishes...I felt very special! It was great to hear from you all.
My wish this morning was to have coffee on the rooftop terrasse of Galeries Lafayette. So, we took the metro to Galeries, spent some time wandering the floors and finding the best vantage point to view the art installation under the dome...a man on a platform swing suspended from a balloon...and then coffee on the terrasse. A gorgeous view across Paris from behind the Palais Garnier. It was windy, and Brent, as he took my photo, mentioned something about a flock of seagulls...rude, I thought...but then he explained that the wind was recreating 80s hair, reminiscent of the band A Flock of Seagulls...hmmm, maybe still rude, but I think he meant it as a compliment!
After Galeries we spent some time in the sun in the Jardin Catherine Labouré, a quiet community garden hidden behind stone walls near our apartment. There is a well-tended vegetable and herb garden, and a sun-filtered walkway under a vine heavy with bunches of grapes, as well as the open park area. Absolute peace!
And then it was home...via Le Bon Marché for a bottle of Ruinart champagne (our special French drop). Bon anniversaire à moi, indeed!

Hi Sally & Brent, It seems as though your birthday celebration was a great success. What a grand building Galeries Lafayette, quite beautiful. Love the 'photos, especially the view behind you in your birthday 'photo. Love, L&G
Forget the hair - what is the print on that top you are wearing - it's beautiful! It is not my birthday but I am thinking that if a printed top like that got into your suitcase I wouldn't worry if you saw that there were 2 - I'd find a very loving home for it.
Sorry, enough about me - everything looks beautiful and people would pay good money to style their hair so nonchalantly on the side like that - de beaux cheveux (straight from Google translate).
Love Fi
Happy birthday Sally! So good to see you back in Paris and blogging again. Love Kym
