Dimanche au marché aux puces

My favourite way to spend Sunday...at the fleamarket!  We metro'd to the Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen, wandering the tiny allées and stopping to enjoy the treasure-laden tables at the stalls.  Toys, lace, cutlery, clothing, furniture, military uniforms, china...oh la la!

One of our favourite areas is the Marché Dauphine, which houses stalls specialising in music and antique postcards, books and posters.  I'm not sure where the hours went, but it was 5.00pm when we had lunch!  We found some wonderful postcards from the 1920s - views of rue Saint Louis en l'Ile (where our loved apartment is located) and of le Bon Marché, well before its reincarnation as we find it today but still recognisable.  I love that about Paris...times change, businesses are reinvented, buildings are renovated...but the marks of the past remain.  History linked through cobblestones, balconies and doors.

For Brent, the memories of the 80s were to be found...Blondie, David Bowie, OMD, Sisters of Mercy, Kid Creole & the Coconuts, the Buggles and a bundle of funk...marks of the recent past, but history all the same!

Hi Sally & Brent, What a fun Sunday at the marche aux puces, the tables sure look treasure laden, and it seems that monsieur was pleased with his treasures. Love, L&G
