Nous sommes arrivées!

Bonjour tout le monde!  Arrived Monday morning, feeling grubby and tired...nothing a shower and a good night's sleep didn't fix!  Today we woke, ready for Paris.

The apartment is bright, comfortable and the building is charming.  A crimson door on the street, terrazzo tiling and crimson trim on the entry hall, a lift to the 4th floor - no bigger than an upright box for two - and a crimson door to the apartment.  We are staying in the sixième arrondissement, a new experience for us, and we spent Monday getting our bearings.

Today we spent the day walking...22 degrees - perfect.  Croissant and coffee at the cafe next to the apartment - Le Nemrod - and then wound our way to the river and across to the Tuileries.  We bought a coffee from the garden cafe, pulled up a green, metal chair and sat, soaking up the sun with the Louvre in the background.  Too, too Parisien!  Spent a few hours at the Musée les Arts Décoratifs - a part of the Louvre showcasing fashion, textiles and furniture from the middle ages to the 2000s.  Fabulous.

Walked to Hotel de Ville, down to la plage (the beach) along the Seine and then home.  Stopped at Le Bon Marché for wine and nibbles from their upmarket foodhall La Grande Épicerie.  A handsome young man in the boulangerie handed me a baguette Tradition and wished me a bonne soirée...I nearly burst into tears I was so happy!

If Baguettes make you so happy, you could always try a trip to the Preston market? On the hand, maybe a baguette in Paris has a lot more charm and poetry! Speaking of poetry, keep on writing and taking photos - I love following you on your travels.
Now, off to do the shopping, and if a man at Woolworths hands me a baguette I'll use it as a baton and clonk him - no poetry in Woollies!

Hi Sally & Brent, You certainly have arrived in Paris - great 'photos - those inviting green chairs. Your apartment looks superb, just the place to relax and enjoy your baguette. Love, L&G
