Saturday morning we slept in, had a late breakfast at the hotel and then took the Underground back to Kings Cross. The Eurostar return to Paris was not until nearly 5pm, so we decided to go to Camden Market. This was one of those times (thankfully we don't have many!) when Brent thought I wanted to go, I thought he wanted to go, but in reality neither of us wanted to go! Doomed from the start!
We checked our bags again at Left Luggage and from Kings Cross it was an easy trip to Camden Town station. The Underground was a sea of people, but we surfaced and made our way towards the market areas. The street was a noisy throng...tattooists, piercers, tattoo removalists, t-shirts by the thousands, sneakers, snack outlets touting obscenely-large platefuls of food. Hmmm, just why are we here?
A stop for coffee and we decided to brave the throng and train back to Kings Cross. Arrived back at Camden Town station only to find that the escalator is not working and it's a 96-step, circular staircase descent to the platform in the midst of a river of other commuters. There were so many people milling around the station entrance, we couldn't get close enough to read the info about the train-replacement buses. Now, these moments really test a travelling relationship!
With an hour to spare before we needed to check in for the Eurostar, we used the bus tour map from yesterday to point us in the right general direction, and started walking. Half an hour later we found an Underground station (a civilised one!) - and we were on our way back to Kings Cross - in perfect time for our return trip to Paris. 4 visits in 2 days to Left Luggage and we were developing quite a friendship with the staff!
Apart from a 45-minute delay on the tracks while a problem was rectified in the tunnel (I don't want to know any details!), it was a smooth trip back to Paris and the calm of our apartment.

Hi Sally & Brent, Oh! the sea of people, certainly a different scene from where you had come from in Paris - but a new experience. Love, L&G
