Il nostro appartamento Casa Rossa

Our apartment was wonderful.  A gorgeous view of the lake, which was a treat morning and night.  I loved throwing the doors open every morning, the curtains filling with the breeze - felt very mediterranean.

The apartment is part of the Albergo Milano hotel, and is located a short distance from the hotel.  It was airy, bright, clean and comfortable - everything we expected - and the deck is a highlight.

We were right in the centre of Varenna - a short walk to Piazza San Giorgio, and a few steps to tiny, speciality restaurants, a fabulous café and gelato shops...and the lake front.  Outside the front door of the apartment are studios of a local jeweller and artist, and we shared many smiles and "buon giornos" with them - they sit on the steps outside their studios, chatting and re-arranging their work on display.  In the photo below you can see the iron grill of the doorway to the jewellery shop - when the studio is open, there is a stand beside the door with samples of the artist's work.

We loved Varenna and, if we ever get back to the lake (assuming we're still able to climb steps like we can now!), we would return there.  It's just beautiful.
