Early rise this morning to catch the 8.00am bus from Siracusa to Palermo - a 3.5 hour ride. Lots of farming country in between, dry and rocky, but cows, sheep and green plantations (not sure, but maybe citrus trees). Even saw a horse-rider and his dog negotiating the rocky terrain, perhaps rounding up those wayward sheep!
Palermo is 30 degrees...phew! Hot walk from the bus station to the apartment, but it wasn't too far and Antonio, the owner, was waiting for us - scooter parked and helmet in hand - so Italian! I thought Brent was going to bust out a happy dance when Antonio opened the doors of the elevator to the apartment...he was already picturing the suitcase-haul up three flights of stairs! The apartment is on the third and top floor and the elevator opens directly into the lounge room! Such a treat.
The apartment is called Attico Il Campanile, because it is in the shadow of a huge, old bell tower. The apartment is charming and I'll share some photos soon, but there is a gorgeous outside terrace. The photos below are taken from the terrace. Discovered some four-footed friends on the balcony across the courtyard!
Tomorrow is orientation day...checking out where we sit in the world of Palermo!

Hi Sally & Brent,
The four-footed friends look as though they are enjoying siesta time.
The 'photos are lovely. Enjoy your orientation day.
