Until next time, Venice...
We loved making Bar ai Nomboli our local and, as I glance in the window on the walk back to the apartment, the owner/waiter calls out 'ciao' and waves to us - I don't want to leave! Brent will take home with him the special sandwich combo of mortadella, pecorino, fig and ricotta - it started out as a menu option but morphed into a personalised sandwich, and I loved watching the two of them nut out the perfect combination!
We will take a little of everything with us : the trips to the Lido, the fun of the Italian audiences; the ladies of a certain age from Lavanderie Gabriella; the cheek and passion of Bruno Amada, the glass maestro; the rocking of the oh-so-crowded vaporettos; the galleries and the joy of the Arte Biennale; the morning marmellata croissants; the evening spritz, which is okay to have at any time! Most of all we take with us the wonder that is Venice and its unique life on water.
