Perfect start to the day at Casa Stagnitta...ooh, I'm going to miss this! It's a tiny café with a small amount of standing room if you choose to drink your coffee at the bar, but otherwise the tables and chairs are all in the laneway outside, arranged "just so" by the waiter...and just one waiter, with one other who assists. It's the same waiter every day and he works with pride and a cool confidence...non-stop all day. We think he's the best!
We wandered through the Mercato del Capo, the market that fills the laneways of the Capo quarter of the old city. A gorgeous, aromatic array of fish and meat, and a rainbow of vegetables. I loved the lady at one of the fish stalls who kept the flies away with a homemade "swisher" made of plastic strips taped to a stick! It was loud and fun...loved it! My favourite market in Palermo.
Later we returned to Casa Stagnitta...and I took on the Sicilian gelato brioche! A soft brioche, split to hold a generous serving of gelato. Being a long-black kind of girl, I chose "Le Noir" coffee gelato, and it was impossibly scrumptious! Brent stuck with his cold crema fredda al caffè...but I did share just a little of that "Le Noir"!

Looking good Sally! Market looks amazing.
Hi Sally & Brent,
The variety of balconies look absolutely charming, as do you with your tasty brioche.
Love, Lils
