We caught the bus this morning to Ragusa Superiore, in search of a couple of record stores Brent had in mind. One, Magic Music, was a delight. The shop has been operated by the same man - Gino Nobile - since 1977 and there he was today. I was looking at a newspaper article that had a photo of him in his store - a then and now shot - and he asked me which one I thought looked better. I told him he looks just as cool now as he did then! Not only did we get to enjoy the warmth of Gino's welcome and smiles, Brent found some treasures on 45...including a 1968 Tom Jones (yes, of course, Delilah!)
Then we decided to take the path and steps back down to Ragusa Ibla, following the historic site route. There were some fabulous views of the old town, and the path found its way in and around the beautiful old churches. Ragusa was destroyed in an earthquake that affected the whole region in 1693, and that is when the "new" town was built. Apparently the aristocracy didn't want to leave their crumbled palazzi and so they rebuilt the "old" town too.
The old town retains the charm of narrow alleys linked by worn stone steps, and it's easy to get a little lost...which we did!

Liked your comment to the music man - very diplomatic. All those alley ways and stone steps, good daily exercise. The 'photos are really lovely.
