Au revoir Brussels...homeward bound

While in Brussels, the owner of the guesthouse we are staying in - Dimitri - prepares breakfast each morning:  freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, fruit salad, a pancake to sprinkle with dark sugar...and if you would like, he will make you an omelette.  These are all made individually and served with flair...the table setting is as big a treat as breakfast!  If you need a little more...there's yoghurt, croissants and fresh bread too.  We need to leave at 7.00am tomorrow for the airport, and Dimitri insists that a petite breakfast at 6.45 is a must..."at least a coffee and some fresh bread," he said, "or your head will be like this," and he gestures circles with his hand, "but your bags must be ready and by the door so you do not feel rushed."

The guesthouse is truly wonderful, restored by Dimitri, and there are stories behind every feature in the apartment, including the art created by Dimitri.  I've always had a love of vintage mirrors, but Dimitri's collection I could only dream about!

So, with a scrumptious breakfast experience complete this morning, we headed off for a day Brent had planned for a while.  A meander through Brussels, starting with the flea market, through the antique and vintage shop quartier, to some chosen record shops.  There may not have been any vinyl treasure found at the flea market, but the record shops certainly put a smile on his face!  With coffee stops and a pub lunch, it was a long day...and these old travellers caught the metro home.

Brussels has been a short stay but an interesting way to connect with our flight home.

And that, mes amies, is that...la fin!
