And so la vie quotidienne (daily life) begins! Morning croissant and coffee at the local Blé Sucré. The melt-in-the-mouth pastries make up for the okay coffee...but this is a boulangerie and we're here for the pastries! We ponder our next moves, map book on the table between us.
It's Thursday, and that means the Marché Bastille is in full swing on Boulevard Richard Lenoir. We have a special spot in our hearts for the Libanais market stall that we have frequented since our first visit together in 2008 - think falafels, zaatar pizzas, tabouli. We wander to the market and pick up fresh Lebanese treats for dinner tonight.
And then it's on to some remembered record shops for potential treasures...Heartland, Listen! and Babaluma. The shops are all in the same quartier as we're staying - the 11th arrondissement - but it's a big neighbourhood and we cover a lot of ground, stopping for lunch between shops as we take cover from a sudden storm.
Metro to station Ledru-Rollin, a quick stop at the Monoprix for necessities - tissues, toilet paper...oh, and wine, bien sur! - and then home. Yep, I can live with this daily routine!
