Morning coffee at Le Preau and then we spent the day wandering the streets of the 3rd and 4th arrondissements - le Marais. This is where we live and our adopted area of Paris.
Une journee parfait with clear blue skies - the perfect backdrop for the urban beauty of Paris. A visit to two of my favourite jardins - Place des Vosges and Musee Carnavalet - and then we wander the cobbled streets bordered by cafes and their oh so French sidewalk seating, hole in the wall galleries, independent designer shops with their work-of-art window displays, and the treed squares so actively used by the local habitants and their chiens.
I can't stop smiling!
Crepes for dejeuner on Ile Saint-Louis with a view of the Notre Dame spire and towers rising above the apartment blocks. A fluffy, white chien looks down at us from his gilded third-floor balcony and I'm reminded of the joke Bruce told me at work about Fifi and Phideaux - it's definitely Fifi sunning herself up there.
A trip to Hotel de Ville to purchase a carnet of metro tickets, two stops to Saint Paul station, pause to pick up a baguette and home to throw open the windows and listen to the musique Francais of our courtyard neighbours arriving home from work.
Bonsoir for now notre amis!
PS Love hearing from you via the blog comments - merci!

Hi Sally & Brent
Took a walk in our own modest city today and as we ended up in your area we thought we would check on your house Brent. Everything is absolutely fine. We knew you were expecting us to drop in so we weren't at all suprised to find the door wide open to make it more welcoming and easy for us to stroll right on in! It was also very wise of you to take all the DVD's and CD's off the shelves and hide them somewhere. However,no matter how hard we looked we couldn't figure out where you managed to store all your furniture and pictures? ( no really - everything is fine and we triple checked the door was locked when we left!)
Back to Paris - can't you just see the thought bubble above the heads of everyone who walks under that building with the big eyes in the windows: " Mon dieu! there it is again, just like when I passed here yesterday, an overpowering sense that someone is watching me!"
On the topic of eyes, that little maze-like garden in your photo could be a death trap for any short-sighted French geriatric with a zimmer frame. Once they stray off the path into that labyrinth they're stuffed. Perhaps they should only go for walks in this wild area with ropes tied around their waists or ensure they have emergency flares in their shopping bags.
Love the photos.

PS - Booked tickets to see John Cale next month, not quite Guns n' Roses but should be ok.
