Dimanche...le plaisir des Parisiens!

Sunday...weather is fabulous. We're almost into our last week and we're starting to plan the final days. I had wanted to walk through the Tuileries and Brent had wanted to walk through the jardin at the Palais Royal - so that's what we did today.

You sometimes read that these places are best avoided on weekends because Parisiens are out in force enjoying their quartiers, but they really are the best days. You get to see the children playing, young and old smooching, and the parks are full of life.

We had a gorgeous walk along the Seine, browsing the bouquistiniers. Two American tourists, studying their map, heard to say: "There's something on the river up here called the Pont Neuf"!

Sitting in the Tuileries I felt like there was no place I'd rather be!

And neither did Brent!

At Jeu de Paume (a photographic gallery at one end of the Tuileries) there is an exhibition by Martin Parr. One of the advertising boards is a photo of his from Venice.

Place de la Concorde is one of those awe-inspiring views where there are too many monuments to absorb in one glance.

Rue de Rivoli - glorious old arcades on one side, Tuileries on the other.

Place Vendome where Napoleon and Josephine were married; now the site for exclusive shopping at Rolex, Van Cleef and others.

Walked the perimeter at the jardin at the Palais Royal. The main sculpture square is closed for renovation at the moment, but the garden is still gorgeous.

Wandered into a local street market near the Bourse metro station. Second-hand clothing, china and bric-a-brac - if only I was decorating an apartment here!

There's so much to tell - what a bonne journee!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. However, Sally, with your eloquently descriptive prose you have taken that to another level for me. I have enjoyed every step of the way, with you and Brent, on your bonne journee Thank you. (I think there may be a book opportunity for you there somewhere!!)
