Il pleut...

It's been a cold, wet weekend in Paris. Today we went to the puces de la Porte de Vanves - a brocante and flea market we have never visited before. Loved it. It is much smaller than the Saint-Ouen market, but we thought the wares were just as interesting. The crockery and glassware was part-filled with rain; the browsers just tipped out the water to better inspect the goods. The much-loved chiens were present at many stalls; tiny terriers dressed in raincoats, some sitting in boxes on the trestle tables, one sitting atop a box of vintage postcards...mais pas de vente!
Last night we opened the champagne left for us by the owners of the apartment and watched the new Woody Allen movie, Midnight in Paris. So many of the sights in the film we recognised from our wanders: the detective agency; the steps where Gil waits at midnight; rue Paul-Bert at marche Saint-Ouen; the apartment of Gertrude Stein; and of course the musees and jardins of Paris. We both really enjoyed the movie; a perfect way to spend a rainy Paris night.

Hi Sally & Brent, You certainly have made the most of a rainy week-end. The much-loved chiens are probably used to attending the market in all kinds of weather. L&G
