Pop art at Pompidou

Breakfast at Au Petit Versailles du Marais...un croissant pour moi and un pain au Nutella pour Monsieur...then over to Centre Pompidou for the Roy Lichtenstein retrospective.  Magique!  Brent is a fan of comic book and pop art and he loved it.  I loved the references in Lichtenstein's art to Picasso, Monet and Matisse...his reinterpretation of Monet's Rouen Cathedrale, a series of paintings we saw at the Monet exhibition at the Grand Palais during a previous visit.  We always enjoy exhibitions at Centre Pompidou...beautifully presented, videos of interviews with the artist and stories personal to the art included on the wall boards beside many pieces (I try and read the French, but then cheat when it's too difficult by reading the English).

Lunch at Le Pick-Clops in the Marais...and then "un peu" shopping at our favourite stores in the Marais, including a scoop at Lucky Records for Monsieur.

It was a grey day, but I'm kind of loving the cool, sombre days.  People living in Paris tire of the grey (so I read), but, pour moi, I love the lights reflected on the damp cobblestones, the bunches of brightness at the flower vendors, the crimson and green of the cafe awnings, the coloured doors set in the white of the apartment buildings and the red heads of the geraniums behind the wrought iron of the window boxes.  These are the colours of my memories of Paris.

Hi Sally & Brent, The Centre Pompidou certainly caters for some very different exhibitions. The 'photo coming down the escalator gives us some idea of the size of the venue, and it doesn't look very crowded - that would be a treat. Love L&G

Hi Sally and Brent

So there is Brent outside Lucky Records and shuffling through the vinyl. Didn't he realise the recort cart had WHEELS??!!

What was he thinking?? One little push, a quick jump onto the footrest on the bottom, a left hand extended as an indicator and he's off! 600 mint condition 80's EP'S plus an attractive mobile storage unit that back in Melbourne would turn the head of any self-respecting hipster as they see him race through North Fitzroy are now his.

Sure the first corner would prove tricky but like ballast on a hot air balloon he could throw a few records out of one side and the weight displacement would help him to turn in the opposite direction.I suggest that anything by Flock of Seagulls or Spandau Ballet be the first to go.

If you decide to go back Brent just a few suggestions - disable the cart behind you so the owner can't mount a high speed chase, wear a helmet in the interests of safety and get one of those dogs with the bobbing heads to put on the front.
