Every weekend there is a flea market - or in French, marché d'antiquité-brocante - at Porte de Vanves in the 14th arrondissement. The Porte de Vanves metro stop delivers you at the doorstep to the market. It's always a fun wander and there's plenty of banter and laughter between the stall holders. There's collectibles, vintage clothing, crockery and silver, vintage perfume bottles, books, linen and buttons, vintage games and toys ... and so much more ... including some large personalities amongst the marketeers!
Comme d'habitude we arrived by metro and stopped at the nearby boulangerie for croissant et café before hitting the market. Which is when I realised I'd forgotten to pack my camera. First rule of holidays : never go anywhere without your camera! Désolée, mes amis ...
I swore a little and got over it, and we had a great time! Brent found some 12" French pressings of Donna Summer and Chic on coloured vinyl, and a US 12" of Chic "I want your love" that is missing from his collection - all at the right price (always a bonus!) I found some vintage wooden thread bobbins, and two china ashtrays - which will look lovely with the Gauloise blue ashtray I have from a prior Paris visit.
So the best I can do for photos today is to show you our treasures ...
