Musée D'Orsay ... or maybe another day

We set off this morning to see the new exposition at the Musée D'Orsay - Picasso bleu et rose.  I did mention to Brent that I thought we should consider buying tickets online ... opening day and all ... but he thought we'd sneak in without a problem.  Ummm, wrong!  The queue was incroyable!

We tried to connect to wi-fi and book tickets while sitting in the forecourt, but connection was too slow.  The beauty of booking tickets is that you nominate an entry time, then turn up within 30 minutes of that time and you gain entry through a separate access line (normally without having to wait at all).  But it wasn't happening for us today.  So ... resort to plan B!

When in Paris, plan B is always - let's just wander - somewhere!

So we wandered back along rue de Lille, and then the length of rue du Bac back to the apartment.  Rue du Bac is a gorgeous street - antiques, patisseries, gift shops.  A thunderstorm struck, so we took shelter in a shop ... which gave us a chance to pick up some gifts.  Then, when the rain retreated, made our way to a newly discovered arcade - Beaupassage - where there is a range of cafés and restaurants.  Today we stopped at Thierry Marx ... and it was good!  Very good!  I have a feeling we'll be back for petit dejéuner to try some pretty scrumptious looking croissants!

Hi Sally & Brent,

It sounds like a very interesting and satisfying wander - a good plan B.
