A quiet weekend spent wandering, taking in the Parisian street views. These are our last days and, comme d'habitude, we lock these views away in our mind, precious memories to call on until we return.
Saturday night was Nuit Blanche. We had fun at the Monnaie de Paris, donning a lighted backpack and following a path through a marked maze in the dark courtyard ... a meditative kind of journey to the centre of the maze. At the Bibliothèque de l'Institut de France, an illuminated portrait of Cardinal Mazarin welcomed us into the purple-lit courtyard where we watched urban artist Pascal Boyart, alias PBoy, paint portraits of historical figures linked to the Institut.
My legs ran out of energy before we could visit all that we wanted, but it was still a special treat to wander alongside the Seine and meander home.
Tonight we had drinks with Rita and Gérard, the owners of an apartment in the Marais in which we stayed many times. It is always a joy to see them ... a perfect end to the weekend!
