Spending time doing what we love most...wandering.
Breakfast at Marina Corta, a pretty marina just a short walk from Villa Sea Rose. It's beautiful sitting in the cool of the morning with the breeze coming off the water...bombolone marmellata and coffee.
Overlooking the marina is the citadel and archeological park, accessed via a picturesque walk through the narrow alleys leading up hill. The park is peaceful, with gorgeous views from what remains of the citadel walls. Throughout the park there are groups of stone sarcophagi dating to the 5th and 8th centuries, and one site reveals the foundations of huts dating to the 17th century.
Wander home, into our togs and down to the beach. We thought we would manage the pebbly beach...but even though it's relatively easy to walk into the water, once you've been in the water a while, it's difficult to walk out as the pebbles can be quite painful on soft feet (such a city girl!). An absolute lack of elegance as we hobble and stumble up from the water! The wet pebbles are like sand, you sink in with each step, so thongs just get stuck. While not a fashion statement, there are some practical water shoes sold at the marina - jiffies made of wetsuit fabric with a rubber sole. These will be my souvenir of Lipari...and happy days at the beach!

Nothing wrong with being a "city girl", just put on the little jiffies, and you will be fine. The 'photos are lovely.
