Risques de pluie

The risques de pluie was so great we got caught in the downpour and had to buy a second parapluie! Spent the day wandering rue Charlot and rue de Turenne, both interesting shopping streets, and visiting the Place des Vosges, which is a favourite spot from last year.

Found a great bookshop, L'Arbe a Lettres and made some purchases. Bought a paperback "Comment devenir une vraie Parisienne", which is in French, because by the time I learn enough of the language to read the book, I may well be une vrai Parisienne! These will be fun to share at French class.

It was great just wandering the streets. It has taken a few days to settle into holiday mode and shed that initial pressured feeling of getting through all the things you want to. We are really starting to enjoy the beautiful girls on motor scooters, the beautiful boys on bicycles, the boys on motor scooters smoking cigarettes as they ride, the girls riding their bikes in high heels, and the men and women of certain age (such as moi) who, it seems compulsorily, must have a dog no bigger than knee height, avec jacket in the rain! It's gorgeous watching the owners clumsily try to get money out to pay for their goods because le chien is firmly tucked under their arm.

Off to Reims tomorrow for champagne visits. Mmmm.

Are we likely to see a 'photo of you or Brent on une bicyclette? You describe the scene so well, and what a wonderful city to "regarder les gens" L & G

If you have le screw driver handy I would appreciate le petite door knocker for Harold Street. I love all the details on the architecture and history in the buildings. We were very impressed with Brent's effort to climb the Arc de Triomphe, and Sally's effort tackling that huge sandwich. How come my days seem so predictable, and my sandwiches eem so small?

I love the knockers that the French have, but nice as this one is, I do prefer them in pairs. Love Paul (channelling Benny Hill)
