The gondola bookshop

Visted a beautiful bookshop I had read about where the books are piled in gondolas and along the walls. It's also a home to many much indulged cats! When the acqua alta hits apparently the bookshop floods from the doorway onto the rear canal and all the books have to be re-piled out of harm's way.
If you look closely at the second photo you might spot Brentivanni, book in hand!

Hi Sally & Brent, What a beautiful bookshop - it looks like you find a book by biblical selection "seek, and ye shall find". Brent looks as comfortable and content as the cat stretched on the table. L&G

Hi Sally and Brentiovanni

I think I have read about that book shop somewhere before, I’m sure of it. Was the owner an elderly bloke with a long white beard wearing a natty old robe? I think he build the gondola inside the shop then loaded the books on two by two. There were two copies of Ulysses, The Tempest, etc. I reckon if I moved to Venice I would be so nervous looking out the window at all that water lapping at my backdoor I would actually have a bed built out of a gondola as I wouldn’t get to sleep at night for fear of drowning. I’d probably even sleep in a lifejacket and take an emergency inflatable life raft to bed as well just to be extra safe. Still waiting for the picture of the Border terrier!
