Croissant et pain au chocolat for breakfast, and then down to Le Bon Marché for a baguette Parisienne to make up a pastrami sandwich for lunch. Our plan today was to have lunch sitting beside the Seine on Ile Saint-Louis and, like maman et papa français, we would unwrap our homemade sandwich, soak up some sun and wonder at the joy of being here, in Paris - and that's what we did!
First, a wander through the 6th and 5th arrondissements, stopping for café and choux pastries...mmm! Walking a route behind Notre-Dame, we made our way to Ile Saint-Louis, stopping for our sandwich on Quai d'Orléans, prolonging the pleasure of peeking in our apartment courtyard.
Down rue Saint-Louis en l'Ile to numéro 10, entered the door code and stepped into the courtyard...as exciting as entering a secret garden! The concierge was at work, hurrying across the courtyard..."Bonjour monsieur, madame. Ça va?"...as if we had last chatted yesterday. My heart skipped a beat and I couldn't stop smiling...this place is perfect and one day we will live here...we both know it.
We wandered through the Marais to Place des Vosges before heading home. Perfect Monday...lundi parfait!
