We taxied from the hotel to Stazione Termini, then the fast train to Milano to meet up with a regional train to Varenna, Lake Como.
Arrived at Varenna and followed my scribbled directions from the station to the apartment. We are staying in an apartment 'Casa Rossa' at the Albergo Milano hotel. The hotel has eight rooms...our accommodation is in a separate building, a short walk from the main hotel. We have a wonderful terrace overlooking the lake. In the photo below, you can see the apartment - just above the restaurant awning on the waterfront, on the left-hand side, there is the apartment - sandy colour with two levels of apartments above it in red.
We settle into the apartment and do some exploring. Varenna is picturesque...narrow, cobbled streets with steep steps down to the lake, or up to the piazza. We're booked into the hotel for dinner, hoping for a terrace table, but a storm sets in and it's all indoors tonight.

Hi Sally & Brent, How beautiful are those narrow, paved streets. Looks like quite some view from your apartment, especially the storm coming in. Love, L&G
Trapped in a room far from homo,
Cause' a storm's sailing over Lake Como,
Call for pizza over the phono,
Should never have left sunny Romo.
