First stop today...a craft and local produce market in Piazza San Giorgio. Then a walk to the train station to purchase tickets to Tirano for Monday, where we'll meet up with the Bernina Express for the train trip through to Zurich.
Wandered alongside the lake back to town, taking the path to the 'beach for dogs' (but not actually finding it!), and then followed the narrow streets to Villa Monastero. The Villa is used for international conferences (most recently a medical imaging conference - lucky buggers!) and temporary exhibitions and is set in beautiful terraced gardens with views across the lake. In the gardens, midway between the entrance and the villa, there is a café, where we stopped for lunch. Such a gorgeous setting. There is a temporary exhibition in the villa illustrating the life and work of Moisè Michelangelo Guggenheim and we loved the Venetian art curated for the exhibition.
A meander through the gardens and then back to town. Thought about a gelato - maybe later - but loved the cushions placed on the steps so you can sit and eat your ice-cream.
