We took the bus this morning over to the 12th for a special breakfast treat from boulangerie Blé Sucré. This tiny boulangerie has wonderful pastries and this morning was no exception - buttery and still warm, croissant pour moi and pain au chocolat for Monsieur.
Blé Sucré is in a narrow street alongside Square Trousseau. Early in the day the square is noisy with young children at the playground, and at lunchtime it's noisy with secondary school children - backpacks flung down on the ground, lunch boxes and McDonald's paper carry bags, cigarettes, card games, kisses.
Nearby, we discovered Les Fleurs, a beautiful shop of vintage knick-knacks, locally handcrafted items and flowers. I found a vintage glass frame, finished with a twist of bright fabric from which to hang it - perfect for cross-stitch!
A wander, then, over to rue Daumesnil to visit Le Bonheur des Dames, a needlework shop always worthy of a browse - and I'll probably be back a second time!
Weather is perfect - blue skies, high 20s - the kind of weather that keeps you walking all day, with a stop for wine and baguette on the way home. That's my kinda day!
