We started the day (after croissant et café, bien sur!) with a visit to the Conciergerie on the Ile de la Cité. This was initially the royal residence of the first French king, Clovis, in the 6th century; later becoming the Parlement de Paris - the king's council, government and judicial court; and then, in the 18th century, was increasingly used as a prison by the Revolutionary Tribunal during what's referred to as the "reign of terror". It was a really interesting visit - it's hard to fathom so much history.
Then on to another "must see" that we have never visited before - the Shakespeare and Co bookshop. A wonderful warren of books, floor to ceiling!
Finally, the icon that is La Tour Eiffel. After grey, rainy days all week, today the sun shone and made it a perfect day to wander the Champ de Mars. Just have a look at all those bodies sprawled on the grass, soaking up the sun!
